This blog is about my dad and I taking a trip to Niger this August in 2012. My dad, Brad, is a family doc who specializes in obstetrics. I'm a pre-med student with clinic experience. We'll be volunteering at a hospital in Galmi, Niger for 10 days.

Inside the hospital!
Much of the hospital was built in the '50s, making it something
like 60 years old
A new wing for the hospital is being built. Construction here is just starting
but other portions have been built as well. The project has taken more than
7 years.
Thank you, Cait! The thoughts and support are so meaningful. There are some really tangible ways to help the hospital here in Galmi that don't involve money. Raising awareness and donating other supplies personally, or asking a company to donate supplies is a huge help.
Hello, Thanks for the great pictures! What a great experience to be able to share with everyone. We, the people in the states, don't realize how lucky we are. The hospital there is lucky to have such wonderful people like Dr. Granath and Katy. Thanks for your dedication and hardwork toward helping the less fortunate. I know those patients are in good hands. Please be safe! Lisa Cassinelli
Lisa, thank you for your support! We are being as safe as we can be :) We are doing what we can, but I know that we can do so much more. Now that we've been here, how can I forget all these faces of the sick, the hungry, the dying, who need our help?
Keep the pics coming! It's great to have a visual of where you're at.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about you two a lot and hoping you guys are finding yourselves of great use in a place with so much obvious need. Be safe!
